Some reviews about where to stay

Some opinions about where to stay in Los Angeles:

"I think you should defiantely not miss Hollywood. It is right in the heart of everything, the chinese Theatre, the Kodak theatre, the walk of fame... Everything that makes Hollywood gain notority. In between the tacky souvenir shops and weirdo's it has a certain aura which is hard to put your finger on. Great nightlife and good hostels/hotels. The perfect place"

"Definatley Venice or Santa Monica are the best places!!!!!Avoid staying in Hollywwod, I didn't feel too safe up there and got a bit bored of it...if your in Venice you can make the most of the beaches and there are some cool little bars and bistros"

"I know Hollywood can be intimidating but if you want to be in the middle of all the action that is the place to stay. When you are in Hollywood you can walk the streets and see the Chinese theater, see all the stars on the street and enjoy the Hollywood and Highland complex. There is a ton of stuff to do there"

"Your best bet in Los Angeles is to stay in Santa Monica. This area is safe, there is a lot of walking and public transportation. From here you need to take other transportation to the major sites but you will be happy with the LA experience if you can find accommodations in Santa Monica"

"Places: Downtown L.A. - not much doing. Hollywood area - plenty to keep you occupied. Anaheim (Disney area) - cheap hotels. Beach areas (where I usually stay when I go on business) is to me, the most fun due to the relaxed atmosphere"

Some reviews about the hotels and the area

Hollywood Heights Hotel: "Location is a brief 7 min walk to central Hollywood tourist area including Manns Chinese Theatre / Wax Museum / Walk of Fame etc etc. Short 10min drive to Universal Studios or NBC or Warner Bros Studios."

Reinassance Hollywood Hotel: "My parter and i were on our 7 week wedding/honeymoon and this was our first destination. The area this hotel is in is fantastic for seeing the Hoillywood sights. we opted to also go to Warner Brothers studio which was 1 minutes away by cab and in my view a highlight of our stay in Hollywood."

Hollywood Roosvelt Hotel: "I stayed here for a night just yesterday with my wife and 20 something children, location was great right on the best part of Hollywood Blvd. I loved the lobby and pool area and being a fan of Hollywoods history I found the hotel fascinating."

Hollywood Celebrity Hotel: "I booked this hotel to be close to the Kodak Theatre. My fried and I were pleasantly surprised to see exactly how close we were (just behind it). It is on a very quiet street. I would definitely stay again, but people should know the fitness room is not in very good shape. Nice location."

Hollywood Hills Hotel: "Hidden gem. This place is totally cool. From the great staff, to the great views of downtown LA and Hollywood, nevermind the huge balcony and spacious rooms... It is a 5 minute walk to Hollywood blvd and the staff will shuttle you up and down the hills upon request."

Magic Castle Hotel: "I have been to many hotels in both continents and also in Europe, this was by far the best hotel I have stayed in. You are really near alot of interesting places if you stay here.Especially if it's your first time going to check out hollywood. There is something going on all the time.Great people watching and a great place for some really cool gifts. It's a block away from the Kodak Theater also which is on Hollywood Blvd. Also across from the Kodak Theater and down a few buildings is where they tape the Jimmy Kimmel Show"

Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Hollywood Walk of Fame: "The Hotel is centrally located just across the road from the Kodak Theater and the Metro Station. Whenever I will come back to Los Angeles (which will be at least once a year since I used to live there) I will definitely stay at this Hotel and I will be glad to recommend it."

Highland Gardens Hotel: "My sister and I stayed here while doing a quick weekend in LA. The area is the best: you can easily walk to Hollywood Boulevard, Kodak Theatre, Grauman's Chinese Theatre, and the Hollywood/Western subway station."

Comfort Inn and Suites: "My wife and I stayed here for a week with our kids, and we couldnt have been happier. The location was so central to everything in and around Los Angeles, and one of the biggest perks was, on certain nights...we just left the car in the garage, at the hotel and walked to Hollywood Blvd."

Best Western Hollywood Plaza Inn: "We spent three nights while visiting friends nearby and felt comfortable and safe at a reasonable price. I was surprised at how good location actually was. A few steps out the door and you get a good look at the Hollywood sign, and in 2 minutes you are at the Walk of Fame, Sunset Boulevard. The Hollywood Highland center is nearby, which is convenient for shopping"

Liberty Hotel: "The Liberty Hotel is located in Hollywood, directly behind the Hollywood/Highland Mall and subway station, Kodak Theatre, Grauman's Chinese Theatre and Walk of Fame, all located on the famous Hollywood Boulevard. Universal Studios is a 4 minute subway trip away and the hotel is in a quiet pocket and is in an ok neighborhood (which is saying something in LA)."

Hollywood Orchid Suites: "If you want a hotel near Hollywood and its sights, this is the place. Very good location and handy for those using public transportation. Metrorail is appr. one block away (station Hollywood/Highland) and there are also several bus lines taking you to the city center. Nice pool area and the hotel is in a quiet area, even though it is as central as it can be. Just behind the famous Hollywood Bouleward!"

The Saharan Motor Hotel: "I usually travel to LA 4 times a yr, have been for the last 20 yrs. Have always stayed at this hotel. It's one of the best in Hollywood, based on room rate, location, and service."

Hollywood Studio Inn and Suites: "The Hollywood Studio Inn is brilliantly located. Positioned on Sunset Blvd., directly below the busiest stretch of Hollywood Blvd., it's a fifteen minute walk or less to the centre of things. And surrounded by shops, restaurants, cinemas and other hotels it's a bustling and safe area. Where to stay in Hollywood area."

Days Inn Hollywood/Universal Studios: "I was very surprised with this hotel, the location is excellent, the rooms are clean and big enough, and it has very affordable rates. I went to Los Angeles with my parents just for shopping, and I found this hotel which actually exceeded all my expectations. Just in front of th hotel you can find a "Ross Dress for Less" store, within walking distance you can go to the Hollywood & Highland Center (a beautiful Mall), and some blocks away you can also go to a Target Store and Best Buy Electronics."

Hollywood Guest Inn: "We got a pretty good rate here and the location was reasonably good to see beverly hills and hollywood, further west would have been better, (the further you go west on sunset the better the area)."
